In early September I had the opportunity to photograph a destination wedding with Mike Monaghan Photography at the Sandy Lane Resort in the Haliburton Highlands. Carly and Pete had friends and family traveling from all over the world and had booked all of the cottages at the resort for their wedding. Mike and I arrived the night before, in time to capture a birthday party for a family member, an epic sing-along under the stars, and campfires until the wee hours. The next morning there was swimming, tubing and wakeboarding, followed by a big family BBQ. The ceremony took place on the beach just before sunset and the reception was held in the main building at Sandy Lane where the guests partied hard, again into the wee hours, and wound down with Monaghan’s guitar strumming by the campfire almost until dawn. I think this wedding takes the 2011 award for “most fun activities packed into a wedding day”. Here are a few of my shots from that weekend.
